From the Midwest to the Mountain West
My work is rooted in close observation of the natural world. Each piece honors a particular time and place — I photograph and study every subject in person, and the act of drawing enables me to sit with it longer and preserve what I found.
Working in graphite on paper, I find subjects in rocks, roots, weathered wood, and the landscapes we often walk past without a second glance. I invite you to take your time with the work.
I grew up in Wheaton, IL, where the Midwest landscape shaped my earliest subjects. Eventually, I moved West, and I've been drawing from the landscapes around me ever since. I am a recovering tech professional who earned a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business. In recent years, I've reclaimed my focus on art.
